cannot sign in to origin to play sim city

very disappointed I bought sim city for Christmas for my daughter and cannot get it to plan to to origin???? keeps saying I have to log in but says log in not available online. then says its not online? so confused! and obviously im online!!!! cannot find live support im logged in iv redeamed the code but cant figure out how to play...
