I thought I would just add my experience to see if it helps. I had this issue twice. First time I couldn't find a working solution but coincidentally I wanted to upgrade to a SSD, so just started again with a whole new operating system. A bit extreme, but it worked.
Then...
I open Origin app yesterday and it came back. AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!
However, I noticed a few minutes earlier my Avast AV had quarantied an apex executable thiking it had malware. I think the file was called r5apex.exe. After reading up everyone is saying it's a false positive so I am restored that file and put an exception in. Voila! I can now log back on.
